The 60's was a time of many dramatic changes in the USA. A time which promised greater freedoms that were  gained  only by protest, rebellion and struggle. It was the Era  of the Vietnam War, Demonstrations, Sit Ins, Be Ins, Love Ins, Hippies, Black Panthers and Assassinations.  The Arts were going through similar upheavals. The Avant Garde state of mind was growing to the point where it is now Contemporary.  Many people were experimenting with Art Forms, Lifestyles, Sexuality and Spirituality.

As a response to this new and turbulent cultural environment. I began to map out and write music and concepts which today might be called Conceptual Music.This took the form of maps showing the placement of specific instruments in space, graphic notation, the use of colors, calligraphy, as well as conventional notation .
